London - Stansted Airport (STN) information
London's 'airport in the country' is situated in Essex, 48kms northeast of the city centre. One of five major airports serving metropolitan London, Stansted also offers convenient access to cities and towns along the eastern coastline and in the northern countryside. The airport is served by 40 airlines, and handles more than 14 million passengers per year travelling to and from some 100 destinations, primarily in the UK and Europe. Airport parking at London - Stansted
There are short, mid and long stay car parks. The short-term car park is situated 200 metres from the terminal entrance. The first 15 minutes is free; after that parking charges are £2.80 for the first hour, and about £1.50 per hour subsequently. Courtesy buses link the mid- and long-term car parks with the terminal every 10 and 20 minutes, respectively. Journey time to the terminal from the mid-term car park is 5 minutes; from the long-term car park, 10 to 15 minutes.
Getting to and from London - Stansted
London Stansted Airport is situated just off the M11, which leads directly into the city. Stansted Express trains depart every 15 to 30 minutes from a station below the terminal. The journey time to London is approximately 45 minutes. Local trains also depart hourly, making numerous stops along the way into the city. Rail connections are also available from the airport to Cambridge, Peterborough and Birmingham. A coach station is located below zones C and D of the short-stay car park. Express bus service to London's Victoria Station departs every 30 to 60 minutes; journey time is 75 minutes. Buses also depart throughout the day serving all parts of central London (including the other airports) plus other nearby destinations such as Colchester, Oxford and Birmingham. The authorized Stansted Airport taxi operator, Checkercars, has a reservation desk in the international arrivals concourse.

There are ATMs and bureaux de change in the international arrivals and departures halls. Shops offer a wide range of designer fashions, plus leather goods, jewellery, electronics, books, chocolates, toys, gifts and souvenirs. Dining facilities at the airport include 3 restaurants, 2 seafood bars, 10 cafés, 2 pubs, and establishments featuring sandwiches, juices and ice cream.
