Travel Guide to Perpignan
Perpignan is situated close to the Mediterranean Sea and it is only 30 kms from the Spanish border. The city has a Spanish feel to it as it once was the capital of the kingdom of Majorca, but then later Catalonias became the second largest city after Barcelona. Getting there and away to Perpignan
Aéroport de Perpignan-Rivesaltes is only 10 kms northwest of the town. It receives flights from several different European destinations. Close to Marseilles there is a must busier airport.
If you are travelling by car from Paris then you can take the A6 to the A7 outside Lyon. Then you continue on the A7 which takes you to the A9 all the way into Perpignan. The journey in total takes about 8 hours to cover about 900 km of the journey.
Major Attractions in Perpignan
One of the main attractions in Perpignan’s is the Castillet; the building dates from the 14 th Century and has a combination of gateways and fortress. It houses a museum with exbhitions of Catalon regional artefacts.

Perpignan ’s location is in a brilliant place as it is near some of the most outstanding cities, both French and Spanish. Close to Perpignan you have the Pyrenees. If you want to see these them you can drive to them by taking the N16 highway to the west of the city heading for the mountains.

As Perpignan is one of the sunniest places in France, the most best place to relax is the beautiful outdoors near the beaches. On the other hand the Basse River is a brilliant place to cool off.
