Horta Airport (HOR) Information
Introduction
This small airport is located on the southeast coast of Faial Island, one of the Azores Islands in the Atlantic Ocean 1,250kms west of Portugal. Horta Airport's two-storey terminal handles nearly 200,000 passengers per year. All regularly scheduled flights are domestic connections. SATA (Air Azores) operates several flights daily to and from Ponta Delgada and other locations in the Azores. Also, TAP Portugal offers two flights daily to and from Lisbon. The airport is situated on the island's south coast, 10kms west of the town of Horta.

Getting to and from Horta
If you are travelling by car, the town of Horta is about a 15-minute drive to the east, along the island's main road, which runs near the coast. The town of Capelo is about 12kms to the northwest. The airport is connected to the town of Horta and other island destinations by buses of the public transport system. By bus, the duration of the ride to Horta is about 45 minutes. Check with the airport's information desk for current timetables. Taxi service is also available for links to Horta and other parts of Faial Island. However, at peak times the availability of taxis may be considerably reduced, so travellers are advised to book a taxi in advance for the return trip to the airport.
Amenities at Horta Airport
Essential facilities are limited. There are a few ATMs on the first floor, as well as a small post office (open 9:00 to 17:30). A newsagent is located near the check-in area, as is a travel shop featuring gifts and souvenirs, plus a delicatessen. A coffee shop is situated on the second floor, by the public terrace.
