Groningen Airport Eelde (GRQ) Information
Introduction
Groningen Airport Eelde is the regional airport for the northern Netherlands. This small, efficient airport handles about 100,000 passengers per year who depart from the airport primarily on charter flights bound for holiday destinations in the Canary Islands, Spain, Portugal, Greece and Turkey. There are also regularly scheduled flights to the UK, as well as to domestic destinations including Rotterdam and Eindhoven. The terminal has three check-in desks and one gate.
Airport parking at Groningen
Two car parks, P1 and P2, offer short- and long-term parking options. Rates for short-term parking in P1, directly across from the terminal, are €1 per hour and €10 per day. Long-term parking in P2 costs €25 per week.
Getting to and from Groningen
The airport is just off the A28 Groningen-Assen motorway, which leads north directly into Groningen city centre, and south to Assen. The Arriva number 52 bus travels from Groningen Central Station to Groningen Airport Eelde twice an hour and once on Sundays. From Assen (bus station NS) the number 51 bus travels to De Punt, where one must change to bus number 52 to reach the airport. Shuttle buses, taxis and limousines are also available at the airport for transport to Groningen, Assen and other area destinations.
Amenities at Groningen Airport Eelde
The terminal has a single ATM. Other amenities include wireless internet access, a children's playroom and a travel agency. The airport shop offers duty-free items (if travelling outside the EU) as well as magazines, newspapers and perfumes. Passengers may dine or have a cup of coffee at the airport's restaurant which has an outdoor terrace overlooking the runway.
