Osaka Kansai International Airport (KIX) Information
Osaka Kansai International Airport is located approximately 30 miles southwest of Osaka central, on an artificial island some three miles from the shore. Roughly 20 million passengers pass through the airport annually, with flights going to and from more than 70 domestic and international destinations. Airport parking at Osaka
Two multi-level parking lots are located adjacent to the terminal, affording direct access to the building. Alternatively, two open-air parking areas are located slightly farther away from the terminal.
Getting to and from the airport
The airport can be reached by car from Osaka via a toll bridge connected to an expressway, which serves both the Hanshin and the Hanwa expressways. There are excellent rail connections from the airport to all parts of Osaka, with Haruka express trains offering speedy services to the city and its surrounds (50 minutes to Osaka and 75 minutes to Kyoto). The Kansai rapid train service travels to Kyobashi, taking roughly 1 hour, 15 minutes to make the trip. Buses running to a variety of regional destinations are available from outside the Arrivals area, with ticket booths located outside the terminal. A taxi rank is situated directly outside the airport building, with the journey time into the city taking 1 hour on average, longer during peak hours or when roads are congested. Additionally, ferries travel to Awaji and Kobe Port islands.
Amenities at Osaka Kansai International Airport
Despite having only a single terminal building, Osaka Kansai International Airport encompasses a vast selection of passenger services, with more than 30 restaurants serving a range of Japanese and international food, 26 coffee shops and a number of bars. More than 100 stores in the airport provide extensive shopping opportunities, with items on sale including local handicrafts, gifts, duty-free goods and much more.
Postal services are available at Osaka Kansai International Airport and the airport clinic provides medical and first-aid services. Business amenities available from the fourth-floor business centre include fax and internet access, telephones, computer rental, secretarial and catering services, and conference rooms. There is a bank on the second level of the terminal building, while ATMs and currency exchange counters are widespread throughout. Lifts and adapted toilets are available for disabled passengers.
