Introduction
This airport is the gateway to the Tuscany region of Italy and the artistic and architectural masterpieces of Florence. Located 4kms northwest of the city centre, the airport annually handles nearly 1.5 million passengers travelling to and from the major cities of Italy and Europe, including London, Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Madrid. The short-stay car park contains 87 spaces. Parking is free of charge for the first 10 minutes, then €2 per hour for the first hour and €1 per hour thereafter. The 640-space long-term car park is manned 24 hours a day. Rates are €1 per hour, €6 for 12 hours, and a daily rate of €14.
Getting to and from Florence Amerigo Vespucci Airport
From downtown Florence, the airport can be reached by driving the length of Viale Guidoni up to the road leading to the Firenze Nord/Firenze Mare superhighway (A1 and A11). The airport is located just off the A11, which leads westward to Prato (8kms), Lucca (65kms) and Pisa (86kms). The nearby A1 runs generally north and south, with Arezzo 77kms distant. City buses link the airport with the bus station situated in front of Florence's central railway station (S.M. Novella). Departures from the airport are every 30 minutes from 6:00 until 20:30, and then hourly until 23:30. A one-way ticket costs €4, and may be purchased on board. Taxis are stationed in front of the arrivals hall; the trip into the city takes about 15 minutes.

The airport has a bank with ATM and a bureau de change. Duty-free shopping is offered, along with a newsagent/tobacconist and gift shop. A restaurant situated on the first floor of arrivals offers Tuscan specialties via self-service, with a view overlooking the runway. On the first floor of departures is a cafe serving coffee, sandwiches and snacks; hours of operation are 5:30 to 22:00. For business travellers, the Sala Masaccio lounge on the first floor of departures provides telecommunications and internet facilities.
