City of Derry (Londonderry) Airport (LDY) Information
Introduction
The airport is situated about 15kms northeast of Derry (also known as Londonderry), Northern Ireland. The single terminal building handles approximately 250,000 passengers each year. Scheduled flights connect daily with Dublin, London, Manchester and Glasgow, plus Barcelona and Lanzarote (Canary Islands). A number of holiday charters also serve popular vacation resorts throughout Europe.
Airport parking at City of Derry
Two car parks with 24-hour security surveillance are located adjacent to the terminal. There are Derry a total of 500 spaces which are accessible during the airport's operating hours - generally 6:30-20:00. Parking charges must be paid for in the terminal before returning to one's vehicle. In the short-stay car park, parking is free for the first 15 minutes. After that the charge is €2.60 for 30 minutes, and €9 per day. Long-term fees are also €9 for the first day, then decreasing to a rate of €31 per week and about €4 for each subsequent day.
Getting to and from City of Derry
The airport is situated on the main A2 Londonderry to Coleraine road. If driving from Derry, the Caw Roundabout at the eastern end of Foyle Bridge connects with the A2. Buses run to and from the airport four times a day on weekdays, and twice a day on Saturdays. The journey to Derry's Foyle Street bus depot takes 20 to 30 minutes; to Limavady, 15 to 20 minutes. A taxi rank is located immediately in front of the terminal. Typically, the fare from the airport to Derry city centre is about €11.
Amenities at City of Derry Airport
Financial facilities include an ATM and a currency exchange bureau at the airport information desk. For business travellers, a lounge on the first floor provides photocopy and fax facilities plus television and video. A meeting room with audiovisual equipment will accommodate up to 15 persons. An airport shop in the main concourse sells newspapers and books, as well as gifts and souvenirs. The restaurant in the main concourse offers a selection of dining options, while in the departures area a bar and café serve drinks, sandwiches and snacks.
