As all sports, there is always an element of danger and skiing is no different. SAFETY EQUIPMENT
If when you are skiing on or off-piste and you are thinking that you are the best skier ever to set foot on the snow!!, re-evaluate your thoughts as the best skiers in the world know more about safety than they do about skiing! One of the ‘must have’ products on the list is a ‘Transceiver’.
Avalanche Transceivers
For those who ski this item is number one on the ‘to have’ list, with a self activation and a good range and several different frequencies, you could be dug out in minutes. All professional skiers use the Transceivers as I am sure we all know someone who has been involved in an Avalanche
Shovel
Digging, not on holiday I am not!! However a shovel is the second item on the ‘to have’ list. In the event of being buried under snow, the shovel will be your best tool to dig anybody out, they are normally made of plastic or aluminum but have an incredible pressure resistance, so however hard the snow is, you should be able to get to your fellow skier quickly.
Probe
Now you have the ‘transceiver’ and you have picked up the signal, you have the shovel armed and ready to dig, but, where and how do you make the find 100% accurate? The probe is the ultimate tool when looking for your fellow skier. Simply extend with is rapid deployment and start poking the snow, when you hear the screams you are there!! No but seriously this will assist you, plus if the skier was careless enough not to take a receiver it will be the next best thing.
