Zakynthos International Airport (ZTH) Information
Introduction
From its beginnings in 1972 as a small domestic airport, Zakynthos International Airport has grown significantly. A surge in air traffic necessitated the construction of a new passenger terminal, which was completed in 1981; however, many passengers still feel that Zakynthos International Airport is woefully inadequate.
Airport parking at Zakynthos
There are a limited number of parking spaces available for both short-term and long-term stays at Zakynthos International Airport. Parking is located only a short distance from the terminal building.
Getting to and from the airport
The airport is linked with the capital of the island as well as to with major resorts. Regular public bus services provide links, but schedules can be a little erratic. A taxi rank is located in front of the airport terminal, but make sure you negotiate the fare beforehand. Many hotels and resorts offer private car or minibus services to and from the airport. Contact your hotel in advance to arrange a pick-up. By car, the airport is located a short distance from the city centre and is reasonably signposted.
Amenities at Zakynthos International Airport
Don't expect too much from Zakynthos International Airport in the way of amenities. There is only one snack bar and prices are somewhat steep, so it's a good idea to bring your own food. Duty-free shopping is available, but beyond the normal assortment of sweets, spirits and sundries, not much is on-hand.
ATMs and bureaux de change are available, but there are no post boxes or business services. A first-aid station is also on-hand and there is a new baggage reclaim centre in the terminal. Facilities for the disabled exist including wheelchairs on-request, wheelchair-accessible toilets and automatic doors.
A help desk (tel: +30 269 502 8322; or +30 269 502 8611) is located in the terminal to provide further help and information.
