Kefalonia Island International Airport (EFL) information

This airport serves the holiday destination of Kefalonia Island, which lies off the west coast of Greece in the Ionian Sea. A single terminal handles primarily domestic traffic amounting to about 400,000 passengers per year. There are three check-in desks and three gates. Hours of operation at the airport depend on flight timetables. The terminal opens in mid-morning and usually closes at 22:00. Kefalonia Island International Airport is located 9kms south of Argostoli, the island's largest town.

Airport parking at Kefalonia

Car parks at the airport, which are situated just outside the terminal building, have a capacity of 80 vehicles for short-term parking and 30 vehicles for long-term parking.

Getting to and from Kefalonia

The airport is only a few minutes' drive away from Argostoli town centre. However the island is fairly large (50kms from north to south), so travel time between the airport and the various resorts around the island varies. There are no public buses servicing the airport; taxis are available but are not inexpensive. Some hotels and resorts offer free private minibus service to and from the airport.

Amenities at Kefalonia Island International Airport

Because of the airport's small size, passenger services are limited. No banking facilities are available, but there is a post office and a first-aid centre. Retail outlets in the terminal include a duty-free shop, a shop selling gifts and souvenirs, and a newsagent/tobacconist. For travellers' refreshment the airport has a cafeteria and two bars. A VIP lounge is located in the terminal as well. Three travel agencies and/or tour operators have desks at the airport to assist arriving passengers with further travel plans.
