Kavala - Megas Alexandros International Airport (KVA) information
This small airport is located 32kms east of the town of Kavala, near the village of Chrisoupolis in the far northeast of Greece, not far from the Aegean seacoast. Kavala - Megas Alexandros International Airport handles about 400,000 passengers per year, serving both domestic (primarily Athens and Thessaloniki) and international destinations such as the UK, Netherlands, Scandinavia and Germany. The terminal was renovated and enlarged in 1998. There are nine check-in desks and six gates. Hours of operation depend on international flight timetables, but on most days the terminal is open from 6:15 until 21:30.

Getting to and from Kavala
A few kilometres north of the airport is the E90 roadway which leads west to Kavala, about 30 to 40 minutes by car. The ferry port of Keramoti is about 20kms south of the airport. No buses operate out of Kavala Airport, but taxis are available to several area destinations. The fare to Kavala town centre is about €15, while the fare to Keramoti, a 20-minute drive, is roughly €10.

Facilities are very limited. There is no bank or currency exchange bureau. However there is a health centre. The airport has both duty-free and regular shops, plus there is a restaurant for casual dining located in the terminal. Several travel agencies and tour operators maintain booths at the airport to assist arriving passengers with further travel plans.
