Dubai International Airport (DXB) Information
Dubai International Airport, situated 4km southeast of Dubai city centre, is the Middle East's busiest airport. Presently, more than 21 million passengers utilize the airport each year. International flights connect with major cities throughout the world. Terminal 1 services all regularly scheduled flights, while Terminal 2 is reserved for business and charter flights. The 2005 World Airport Awards, based on a passenger survey of airport standards, named Dubai the sixth-best airport in the world, and number one in the Middle East. It was also voted as having the world's best airport duty-free shopping.
Getting to and from Dubai
The D89 Airport Road leads directly into Dubai city centre and is a 10-minute drive. Bus stations are located opposite both terminals. These buses serve all parts of the Dubai area, and depart every 10 minutes between 6:00 and 22:00. A taxi stand outside the arrivals hall is open 24 hours a day, and limousine service is also available.
Airport parking at Dubai
Car park A is designed for short-term parking, and car park B for long-term. Short-term rates are €2.20 per hour for the first day; subsequently the daily charge is €44. Long-term rates are €1.10 per hour; after 10 days, the daily rate drops to €16.50.
Amenities at Dubai International Airport
Both terminals have extensive banking facilities, including ATMs and currency exchange bureaus. Additional amenities in Terminal 1 include a post office, a 24-hour medical centre, prayer rooms, a children's play area and a health club equipped with a swimming pool, gym and massage facilities. Terminal 1's Concourse contains a world-renowned, 5,400-square-metre duty-free shopping area offering a vast assortment of jewellery, cosmetics, liquor and other luxury goods. The Concourse also houses 25 food and drink outlets, from fast-food to specialty cuisine to an Irish Pub. For business travellers, the Connect Business Centre on the departure level offers meeting rooms, work stations, telecommunications facilities and secretarial services. VIP lounges and other personalized services are available through the airport's Al Majlis facility (advance bookings may be made via the airport's web page).
