Croatia Airports
Nestled between Slovenia, Hungary, Romania, Yugoslavia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Mediterranean Sea, lies Croatia - a popular tourist destination with a fantastic coastline and some interesting cities. Flights arrive at the country's international airports from destinations all over Europe as well as from North America.
Croatia has a beautiful and diverse landscape consisting of high mountains, flat plains and many islands and bays. The capital of Zagreb is loaded with museums and churches, making it the cultural capital of Croatia. The city has a web of twisting streets worthy of exploration.
In the south of the country is the highlight of Croatia, the World Heritage town of Dubrovnik. This 700-year-old walled town is one of cobbled streets, churches, palaces and fountains, and is a delight for strolling. Other, must-see destinations include Lokrum Island, the coastal Roman town of Split and Rovinj fishing village in the north, near Slovenia.
There are eight airports which provide fast access to or within Croatia. Rail travel is the next best alternative to flying in Croatia, with all the surrounding nations well connected. Buses also run to and from many European cities and are faster but more expensive than trains. You can also arrive and depart from Croatia by ferry from Greece and Italy.
Pula International Airport provides access to some of Croatia's most popular resorts and is located at the southeast end of the Istrian peninsula in northwest Croatia. Charter flights arrive at the single terminal by the dozen in the summer months. Serving hundreds of thousands of passengers annually, flights arrive here from mainly European and Middle Eastern destinations. Buses and taxis run from the airport to the city, which is located only a few miles from the centre of Pula.
