Vienna International Airport (VIE) Information
Introduction
Vienna International Airport is located 28kms southeast of Austria's capital city. The airport serves as a main gateway to eastern Europe, with direct flights to 28 cities in the region. Overall, 61 airlines fly from the airport to 123 scheduled destinations worldwide. More than 10 million passengers pass through the airport each year. Airport parking at Vienna
Short-term parking near the terminals in car parks K1 and K2 costs €3.40 for the first hour, €7.50 for 3 hours, and €30 per day. The multi-storey car park K3/K4 has parking places for 2,389 vehicles. Here, rates are €2.50 for the first hour, €6.20 for 3 hours, and €20 per day; weekly rates are €105. Car park C is designed for long-term parking, with daily rates of €13.80 and weekly rates of €56.40.
Getting to and from Vienna
By car, the most direct route from Vienna to the airport is via the A4 Airport Motorway; take the exit marked 'Flughafen' (Airport). An alternate route is the B9 roadway. The City Airport Train runs between the airport and the City Air Terminal in downtown Vienna, 10 minutes from St. Stephen's Cathedral at the Wien-Mitte traffic junction. Travel time is 16 minutes. Trains of the regional railway system also travel to and from the airport, leaving every 30 minutes for Vienna's Mitte, Nord and Floridsdorf stations. The journey time is 32 minutes, and the fare €3. There are also train connections from the airport to virtually any point in Europe via the OEBB Austrian Railway System. Bus service to Vienna city centre is available as well: to the Schwedenplatz and Südtiroler Platz (travel time, 20 minutes), Südbahnhof (travel time, 25 minutes) and Westbahnhof (travel time, 35 minutes) stations. The fare is €6. Bus service is also available from the airport to many destinations in Hungary and Slovakia. A taxi stand is located north of the arrivals hall.
Amenities at Vienna International Airport
Several ATMs and bureaux de change are located throughout the terminals, plus there are full-service banks in both arrivals and departures halls. A post office can be found in the departures hall between Terminals 1 and 2, and a 24-hour medical centre and pharmacy in Terminal 1. The airport has an array of more than 70 shops, including duty-free, plus shops specializing in electronics, fashions and accessories, and Austrian and Viennese products and souvenirs. Dining and refreshment options range from fast-food outlets to caf�©s, bars and restaurants. The airport's VIP and Business Centre can organise conferences for up to 40 delegates, and provides five executive lounges equipped with telecommunications facilities. The Vienna Airport World Trade Centre adjacent to the terminals has meeting rooms for larger functions and conventions, plus secretarial and interpretation services.
